Directing people to the most appropriate services saves the community sector time and resources. As an intake and assessment officers, you will play an important role in screening and assessing people’s risks and needs and referring them to the best services for their circumstances. Intake officers work in a number of sectors, including mental health, and housing and homelessness. They should have a deep understanding of the services available to clients and be able to form good working relationships with service providers. Intake and assessment officers are often a client’s first point of contact, and therefore need to be empathetic and effective communicators.
